I would like to know what do Mexicans drink after a meal. I know which are Mexican aperitif drinks, but I don’t know which are digestif ones? Anybody?

Rather than copy Wikipedia, which is shady at best, I’ll just tell you. Before eating we usually have tequila, scotch or a rum (or brandy) and cola. After dinner it could be more tequila, perhaps an añejo (ancient)tequila-those tend to be heavier and are often slightly sweet. Other popular after dinner drinks are Frangelico, Irish cream, more rum or brandy with cola, rompope (a cream and egg liqueur reminiscent of eggnog) and among older people an herb liqueur called 43 or an anisette.

Planning on haven a dinner with some friends and we are going to have Mexican food, but i cant think of what drinks would complement Mexican food well.

Fruit drinks like limeade, orangeade, or pretty much any tropical fruit liquified in water with some sugar. Another common mealtime beverage is agua de jamaica which is the chilled infusion of a certain type of red hibiscus. If you ever drank red zinger tea it’s the red part. Be sure to add sugar as it has a tart flavor.

Apertifs- gold or aged tequila served in a snifter. As chaser serve sangrita which is basically a virgin mary with extra tabasco sauce- add a bit of sweet orange juice to it!- sip the tequila serve the sangrita in a large shot glass.

Rum and coke, called Cuba Libre, also is a popular before meal beverage. Some elements of society prefer brandy and coke. In my family vodka and whiskey are popular too; not mixed of course! Gimlets are popular these days in warm weather.

Red wine and lager beer may be consumed before during and after dinner. If you like a hearty, flavorful beer I do not recommend any Mexican beer, but if you like Miller or Coors products you will be fine with Mexican beer. Most of the wine produced and consumed in Mexico is red wine. If you can’t find any Mexican wine go for a Spanish Ribera del Duero or a Shiraz from anywhere-these are what we usually drink anyway.

After dinner you might serve more cocktails, tequila or whiskey or desert wine. Many Mexicans enjoy an Irish cream liqueur, Frangelico, or an ultra aged tequila. Older people will often have an anise liqueur or a 43 which is a Spanish herb liquer.

Is there any quick way to get used to Mexican tap water? Like a system or even just a vaccine (preferably oral)? I am moving to Mexico for a while and wish to live as a native.

The reason why it’s not recommendable to drink the tap water in Mexico, it’s that even it potable (this means, has been cleared, filtered and in some place chlorinated) it’s not meant to be drinking water.
This is part of a culture in Mexico, people want clean treated water, but they don’t expect to drink it, so it’s only treated to a certain point.
There are areas where water comes from wells, and even the flavor it’s different and you are OK to drink it after you add a few drops of germicide.
In the large cities it’s never recommendable because chancer are you have treated water in your faucets, take in consideration that are cities as old as 500 yrs in Mexico, which pipes haven’t been changed in over 100 yrs, you do the math.
The only place where is safe to drink water from the tap it’s a hotel which usually has a leyend in the vanity mirror that reads something like this "the water of this hotel has been treated for human consumption".
Even in the US it’s not fully recommendable to drink water from the tap because it has way too many chemicals.
Bottled water is real cheap in Mexico compare to US you can get the 5 gallon bottle for less than 3 dlls delivered to your house, and there are vendors everyday in most residential areas.
