Is hot and spicy food healthy for you?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Healthy Mexican Food

it seems to help when I have a cold or the like. But in general what are the health benefits of eating hot and or spicy foods? Like mexican food and using hot sauce, jalapenos, etc. I can see how it can give someone heartburn too. So what are the pros and cons of eating it.?

Spicy food is good only if you keep bad oils out of it..

Only if you’re used to it, and have been eating spicy foods since childhood.

Biologically, spicy flavor is caused by chemicals used by plants as a defense mechanism and in some cases as a poison for the purposes of the defense of the species. When you have a cold, your body’s response to the chemicals can sometimes unclog a stuffy nose, etc. It is true that a Jalapeno pepper contains many times more vitamin C than an orange, and I’m sure they contain other healthy compounds. I am unsure, however, if eating spicy foods alone can actually improve your health. Aside from being an excellent source of ‘C (natural peppers only, not powders, reductions,or spices) I don’t think they are drastically beneficial and aside from being a bit too hot at times, I don’t think they are unhealthy at all, unless of course it aggravates a condition like acid reflux disease.

So unless you are referring to straight peppers, the spiciness of the food does not affect it’s healthiness, aside from the sinus-clearing properties… Taco Bell is still bad for you, no matter how hot it is.

Zinc and vitamin C would be a better choice to cure a cold. Zinc helps the immune system. C has long been known to help fight a cold. If you take zinc stick to the recommended dosage or it can become dangerous. Hot peppers are high in C and of course have fiber. the acid in peppers is not really good for you, One year in South America the pickers were being hospitalized with 3rd degree burns. The highest there is. The pickers are now required to wear gloves. What does that say about their health benefits. If an over dose of vitamin C can burn the stomach imagine what these things are doing. Constant irritation can cause cancer. By the way stomach cancer is called an ulcer.I believe eating such things can cause acid reflects as well and God only knows what organs this acid is attacking.
