Real Mexican probably would not appeal to you, since most Americans only know the quasi Americanized fare. Anyway, here are some real Mexican appetizers.
Cocktail sausages (the really small ones), served in a ketchup with lemon juice and chopped onion sauce. Insert a toothpick into each sausage.
Avocado with corn chips.
Fresh salsa and corn chips.
Jicama, cucumber and carrot sticks, with a tangy hot tamarind dip or chili powder. An ethnic grocer or ethnic section of your supermaket must carry either tajin chili powder or lucas tamarind syrup. You just pour the powder or syrup over the veggie sticks and enjoy. Some lemon juice is a welcome addition as well.
You can also do this with fresh orange or mango slices.
Get some fresh farmers cheese. Cut into 1 by 1 inch cubes.Put some flour into a plastic bag, add seasoning salt, shake, add some cheese cubes, close bag, shake until they are well covered, and fry in some oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Hope you like this.

Individual nachos with grilled chicken, chopped tomato, chopped pepper (hot or bell), black olives and jack cheese. Instead of making a big pile, make them as individual little bites using round tortilla chips. Assemble on a foil covered cookie sheet and pop in the oven until melty. Serve with guac, sour cream and good quality salsa. Have small spoons for the girls to dollop toppings on each nacho.

I’d go more with what Karan said. Be careful when buying "chili powder", it should only contain chiles and salt or even lime. Otherwise, it’s for a "chili con carne" dish (not mexican btw).
And one of my favourite quick and easy snacks (not necessarily mexican, but very popular there), apart from cucumber/jicamas/carrots with lime juice and chile powder, is sausages with a bit of "Maggi" sauce and lime juice. You can leave the sausages as they are out of the package or cook them. I like them cooked. Oh and cut up the sausage too.
(Maggi sauce/juice looks like Worcestershire, but I’m not sure if it has a similar taste).
Hope this helps
