quick spicy after school recipies plz!?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Mexican Recipies

no chinese, foreign, oriental or any of that stuff plz. mexican is fine though!

This is spicy AND healthy, and takes NO effort but does take about 25 minutes in the oven. What I do is mix a BUNCH of the spice mix and keep it in a jar, then simply toss the sweet potatoes in, pop in the oven, relax for 25 minutes and they’re done.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes.

2 (8-ounce) peeled sweet potatoes
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Preheat oven to 425°.
Cut sweet potatoes in half lengthwise; cut each half lengthwise into 6 wedges. Combine sweet potatoes and remaining ingredients in a bowl; toss gently to coat. Place wedges on a baking sheet (do not overlap); bake at 425° for 25 minutes or until very tender.

    Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries
These are so tasty your family won’t believe they are eating healthy! Nothing this good for you should taste so good…or be this easy to cook. These are delicious plain, but may be dipped in honey mustard sauce, ketchup, or even guacamole.

    INGREDIENTS
6 sweet potatoes, cut into French fries
    2 tablespoons canola oil
    3 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
In a plastic bag, combine the sweet potatoes, canola oil, taco seasoning, and cayenne pepper. Close and shake the bag until the fries are evenly coated. Spread the fries out in a single layer on two large baking sheets.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until crispy and brown on one side. Turn the fries over using a spatula, and cook for another 30 minutes, or until they are all crispy on the outside and tender inside. Thinner fries may not take as long.

Well that is rather boring. You are totally missing out on some good food by limiting yourself.

Some good ones have been mentioned …but I have a question does a child have to have a "spicy " snack after school? The spices could cause havoc for their small bowels if given daily.

Chilequeles. Take "restaurant style" tortilla chips. (not dorito type). put then in a bowl and pour enchilada sauce over them enough to just moisten them but not puddle. Throw in shredded cheese, cheddar, queso seco, montego, jack etc.. Put in a baking dish and top with more shredded cheese. Bake at 350 for about 15 min. until the cheese is melted. Yum yum. For a breakfast variation, add scrambled eggs to the mix. Very traditional mexican snack stuff.
